People are protected best from severe COVID-19 illness when they stay up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines and booster for many people. Getting vaccinated and boosted reduces your risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and death. COVID-19 vaccines and boosters are effective against known variants, including Omicron. See the Figure below. COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. CDC recommends that everyone ages five years and older get their primary series of COVID-19 vaccines. The CDC also recommends everyone aged 12 years and older get a booster after completing their COVID-19 vaccine primary series. See the Figure below. Get fully vaccinated and boosted.
