    Childhood Immunization Message – Are your children up to date on their immunization?  The Center for Disease Control and Prevention, states that “vaccines are recommended throughout your child’s life to protect against serious, sometimes deadly diseases”. Did you know that various vaccines are given at specific time intervals according to your child’s age? The Institute of Population Health (IPH), provides vaccinations according to the CDC’s Childhood Immunization Schedule. Please bring your infant, children and teens to the Institute for Population Health (IPH), Family Health Center, located at 9053 Woodward, Detroit, Michigan, 48202. Immunizations are free for eligible children in the Vaccine for Children’s (VFC) program. Protect your children from preventable diseases. Walk-in or call (313) 3099350- Ext # 2 to schedule an appointment.

    COVID-19 Testing Important if you have a Medical Condition – Individuals of any age with underlying medical conditions such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes mellitus, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic kidney disease, weak immune system, obesity, and sickle cell disease are at increased risk of severe COVID-19 illness (CDC, 2020). The risk for severe illness from COVID-19 increases with age, and if you are 60 years and older, you need a COVID-19 test (CDC, 2020). If you are older than 60 years or have any of the medical conditions, please come to the Institute for Population Health (IPH) Family Health Center, 9053 Woodward, Detroit, Michigan, 48202.  Walk-in, Drive-up or appointments are available to get the COVID-19 test. Call (313) 309-9350- Ext # 2 to schedule an appointment.

    COVID-19 Testing – Come to our clinic for a COVID-19 Tests Monday to Friday located at 9053 Woodward, Detroit, Michigan, 48202. A test will be given if you have no insurance. Did you know that there are two types of tests available? COVID-19 tests consist of a viral test and an antibody test. The viral test tells you if you have a current infection, and the antibody tells you if you have a past infection. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, people should get tested for Covid-19 if: they experience symptoms of COVID-19, had close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19, or were referred to get testing by their health provider or health department.  The Institute for Population Health (IPH), Detroit, a Federally Qualified Health Center, provides both types of COVID-19 testing. At IPH, your health is our priority. If your result is positive, a nurse practitioner from our clinic will contact you and provide virtual visits during the 14 days quarantine and advise you on how to protect others from getting sick. If you test negative, it means you do not have COVID-19 at the time of testing. However, continue to protect yourself by wearing a mask, staying 6ft away from others and washing your hands.  If you develop any symptoms of COVID-19, please contact the Institute for Population Health, Detroit at (313) 309-9350 ext.  # 2.

    Influenza Vaccination Message – Come to our clinic to receive the Influenza (Flu) vaccine October 1, 2020-April 30, 2021 for 2020-2021 Seasonal Flu. With the development of the COVID-19 pandemic, getting a flu vaccine for you and your children has become very important than ever before. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) request everyone six months of age and older to get the flu vaccine to reduce the risk of getting sick and possibly being hospitalized or dying from the flu during this pandemic. Influenza virus targets the same high-risk group as COVID-19. This group includes adults 65 Years and older, people with medical conditions (ex. heart disease, stroke, cancer, asthma, diabetes), and pregnant women. The Institute for Population Health (IPH) Detroit, Michigan, offers influenza vaccination for you and your children according to CDC guidelines.  Please come to IPH to get your inactivated influenza vaccine (IIV) and protect yourself and your loved ones from flu illness, hospitalization, and complications.

    Are you older than 60 years, or do you have any underlying medical condition? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that “people at increased risk for severe COVID-19 illness are older adults and people with medical conditions”.  The risk for severe illness from COVID-19 increases with age, and if you are 60 years and older, you need a COVID-19 test. Individuals of any age with underlying medical conditions such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes mellitus, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic kidney disease, weak immune system, obesity, and sickle cell disease are at increased risk of severe COVID-19 illness and need COVID testing. If you have any of the medical conditions, please come to the Institute for Population Health (IPH), Detroit,  a Federally Qualified Health Center located at 9053 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI 48202 to get the COVID-19 test.
