Protect Yourself – Vaccination and Handwashing
Vaccination and handwashing are essential public health strategies to protect people from diseases like COVID-19 and influenza (flu) and stop the spread of these diseases. Handwashing with soap removes germs from hands and helps prevent sickness. Handwashing can prevent 1 in 5 respiratory infections, such as a cold or the flu, and 1 in 3 diarrhea-related sicknesses. The five easy steps for handwashing are wet, lather, scrub, rinse, and dry. Wash your hands before eating, after using the bathroom, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. Keeping hands clean is one of the most important things we can do to stop the spread of germs and stay healthy. See the Figure below. Clean hands save lives. Stay up to date with recommended vaccinations like the COVID-19 vaccines, boosters, and annual flu vaccine. Protect yourself and your family.
